While Theo Walcott has not started a Premier League game since the February 28's 3-2 defeat at Manchester United , his French manager Arsene Wenger have added more to the winger's headache by admiting he is in the dark over the player's future at the club.
When asked where Walcott would be playing next season , Wenger replied , "I'm not in a transfer mode at the moment but I think he has gone through a bad spell. He has responded well, because he said : OK, I will work harder and more . When he comes on now, you see he is motivated and focussed. Let's see how well he finishes the season", he concluded .
Walcott is presently behind the likes of Danny Welbeck, Oliver Giroud, and academy graduate Alex Iwobi who has had a breakthrough season so far . The situation was worsened when the former Southampton forward made a four minute cameo-appearance off the bench despite the fact that many first team regulars were rested in Thursdays home victory over West Brom.
This has further raised the suspicion that this season might be the last for the youngest player to have made a World Cup squad when he made Sven Goran Ericsson England's FIFA World Cup squad in Germany (2006). Walcott has been known for his electrifying pace but the player hasn't been able to convince fans and even his coaches in national team and club level if his favourite position is as a centre -forward or as a winger.
If he finally departs Emirates as speculated then he will depart unfulfilled as so much was expected of him when he was signed for £12 million from Southampton a decade ago.
