Were Bournemouth Right To Sign 22-Year-Old Lys Mousset For £7 Milllion .

By Ewah Chika.

"We are always planing for the future and Lys is not only a young player with exciting potential, but someone who had a massive impact for their club last season. We look forward to welcoming him to Vitality Stadium and believe he will only continue to improve under the tutelage of Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall," was the club statement released by Bournemouth after signing youngster Lys Mousset

from Le Havre for £7 million .

It is a known secret that Eddie Howe achieved something extra-ordinary with  Bournemouth last season after he survived relegation with  the South Coast club. Although it was not a walk in the park, Howe achieved something legendary as his side played attractive and entertaining football beating  then defending Champions Chelsea away by a lone goal in Stamford Bridge in the process.

If there is any area Bournemouth need to improve on, it is in the opponents final third as they team struggled with goals last season. This might have played a role in the signing of the 20-year-old French sensation Lys Mousset from Le Havre in the French football second tier.

Bournemouth will be delighted the forward signed for them considering the calibre of teams who tried to sign him this summer. These teams include Arsenal, Southampton , Sunderland and Spurs to mention but a few. Mousset scored 14 goals in 28 Ligue 2 games last season of which 16 were starts. It is disheartening to know that Le Havre were unable to achieve promotion even with his goals. The French man played in the just concluded U-20 Toulon  European Tournament as he reached the final with France before they were defeated by England.

Mousset can play in various forward positions (forward right, forward left and as a central forward). He is a highly rated forward who has been earmarked for greatness considering his exploits at his tender age. The forward can play alone as a striker or with a second man and is physically strong with pace to match . He will however have to improve his finishing which will come with age if he is to succeed in a competitive league like the English Premiership.

Last season Bournemouth scored only 45 goals in 38 games which if repeated this season is poor considering that this season other teams have strengthened  their squad. The South Coast club lost Calum Wilson early on in the season as he went under the knife for surgery after sustaining a career threatening injury in October against West Ham. Though the likes of Benik Afobe and Glen Murray contributed with their goals, the squad will be a big upgrade considering the signing of the French man who fits the pattern and style of Howe.

The youngster will have to handle the pressure which comes with a big transfer as he will be expected  to make an immediate impact at the club. Though still a raw talent, Bournemouth have sure made a wise decision signing one of the best players of the French Ligue 2 as  the step-up for the forward isn't expected to be a hindrance to the French man's career.
