Is Ahmed Musa A Bargain Signing Or Overpriced For Leicester City?

By Ewah Chika.

Ahmed Musa finally made his long awaited move to Leicester City for £16 million this summer after it was reported CSKA Moscow rejected Leicester's bid last winter.

Musa is Leicester City's record signing and is expected to immediately make the starting eleven next
summer. Musa will seamlessly suit Claudio Ranieri's style of play as his versatility, energy , dedication and pace will come in handy for the club. The former Nigerian captain can play in any forward position in a 4-3-3, 4-4-2, or 4-2-3-1 formation as his direct play and goalscoring ability makes him the ideal partner for Jamie Vardy. Only Quincy Promes (21) has scored more clear-cut chances in the last two Russian Premier League seasons than Musa (19). The Nigerian's physicality will also be a big plus in the final third as he is a player who has a low centre of gravity and can play both foot. While Leicester still has the likes of Ulloa and Okazaki in their fold as, these players will not be able to perform the kind of defensive duties that the Nigerian is known for.  In a Leicester, Musa will likely play as the link-up between the midfield and attack as he is expected to feed goal specialist Jamie Vardy with key passes and chances in the third half.

Jamie Vardy and Musa's partnership  is expected to me as much fruitful and productive as the partnership between the Nigerian and Ivorian, Seydou Doumbia at CSKA Moscow which won the club multiple titles in Russia before the exit of Doumbia to Roma in the winger of 2015. Another factor in favour of the forward is his age (23) top flight experience (125 appearance for CSKA Moscow, 58 caps for Nigeria) and injury free record as the Nigerian is a player who even though plays fast paced football at the same time maintains full fitness.

"Musa can bring his speed. I don't know if he's as quick as Jamie Vardy, but he has lots of speed .

"It's very important to have airplane in our squad. Remember, we are the RAF and we've signed one of them," were the words of Claudio Ranieri after the signing of Musa.

It is worthy of note that the Nigerian set a record for the highest goals ever scored in a season in the Nigerian Premier league  (18) during his time with Kano Pillars. It did not end there as Musa continued his goal scoring rout in the Russian League with his 42 goals in 125 games for the Russian club before his exit this summer to Leicester.

While Leicester City fans continue to moan over the loss of defensive midfielder N'Golo Kante to Chelsea, they should glee their hands In joy at the signing of Ahmed Musa as the forward will not only light up King Power Stadium but also improve the brand and image of the club.
