Is Ms. Hadiza Usman's NPA Appointment A Political Compensation For #BringBackOurGirls Campaign?

By Ewah Chika.

Going by events it is becoming rather stupid to think that the missing Chibok girls campaign wasn't a political campaign against the then President (Goodluck Jonathan).

The reason for this is not far fetched as regards the appointment of #BringBackOurGirls co-founder Ms. Hadiza Bala Usman who was recently appointed the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports
Authority (NPA) by the president. This might be unconnected with the statement made by the present minister of Agriculture Audu Ogbe when he said in Eagles Square Abuja in October 2014 that the BringBackOurGirls campaign was contributing immensely to the success of the APC in the general elections the next year which is 2015.

Ms. Hadiza got to national prominence when she co-founded the #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) which brought international attention to the 276 missing Chibok girls in 2014. The organisation challenged the then President and paraded in the streets of Abuja championing the cause for the missing girls. Though their action then was commendable to some extent as regards the nonchalant attitude of the president to the unfortunate event, it was alleged that certain opponents of the then president were orchestrating it. Those fingered include both Mallam Nasir El-Rufai who publicly aligned with the NGO and who later became the governor of Kaduna state after the general elections last year and president Buhari. As if the rumour wasn't enough Ms.Hadiza was quickly appointed El-Rufai's Chief of Staff which made it clear to all that she wasn't non-partisan as she earlier claimed. The appointment was then seen as a political settlement and as a way of paying her back for the role she played with her NGO .

Another factor that made it more suspicious is the silence by the NGO months after the exit of Jonathan. Does it mean the girls are no longer missing and that the problem was the administration in charge then? Though one can argue that it has been long since the kidnap of the girls, it is a public secret that President Buhari promised to locate and free the kidnapped girls three months into his administration. Why hasn't the NGO attacker the president for not keeping to his own part of the bargain? Why did the co-founder suddenly turn a politician and a beautiful bride that has been spoilt with political posts immediately after the exit of President Goodluck Jonathan ? How come Ms. Hadiza quickly abandoned the campaign to bring back the missing girls and opted for a political position in Kaduna state? Why is the BBOG now a shadow of itself ? And why has Ms. Hadiza remained silent on her mission to bring back the missing girls instead concentrating on building her political career which started with the plot against the format administration with BBOG?

Ms. Hadiza clearly has a story to tell as her records show she worked with El-Rufai in the BPE (Bureau of Public Enterprises as El-Rufai's Special Assistant on Project Implementation after joining from the Centre for Democratic Development and Research Training (CEDDERT) in Zaria. Ms. Hadiza has clearly been on a mission since 2014 and that was crafted with the birth of the Chibok girls conspiracy which she acted perfectly with her NGO #BringBackOurGirls and thus her recent settlement.

The purpose of this writing isn't to discredit the qualification of Ms. Hadiza but to spot clearly the intrigues and unethical manipulations of the present government which is becoming clearer as the days unfold.

President Buhari is setting a bad precedent with his appointments and should be reminded that he is seating on a time bomb which will explode when he least expects.
