Southampton are already targeting Paris Saint Germain unsettled attacker Hatem Ben Arfa according to Foot-Sur7.
Ben Arfa was signed on a free transfer this summer after shinning in Nice last season scoring 17 goals in 34 league games for Les Aiglons who finished 4th under were the present Southampton manager Claude Puel.
This isn't the first time Ben Arfa is linked with an English club after Leicester City tried everything possible in the summer to sign him only to see him fulfil his childhood dream of playing for PSG. The Paris born attacker has failed so far to impress Unai Emery in PSG which has led to him not being named in the match day squad for the last three games.
In total, Ben Arfa has seen only 152 minutes of action in Ligue 1 this season as Emery prefers the likes of Di Maria and Lucas Moura on the wings in a 4-3-3 with the likes of Adrien Rabiot and Javier Pastore all ahead of him in the centre of midfield.
Unlike Puel who gave Ben Arfa the freedom to play in any position with little or no defensive responsibility, which allowed him to play to his playmaking and attacking strengths, Emery requires his players to play to the strengths of the team rather than being selfish. Emery rewards industrious players, setting his team to play with so much energy attacking and defending as a unit. Ben Arfa has not said anything of note to denounce the rumours or intensify it but it is generally known that the midfielder is eager to play regular football as he wants to make the French team on a regular basis.
The Paris born player of Algerian descent, had previous failed spells in both Newcastle United and Hull City under both Alan Pardew and Steve Bruce. Unable to live up to expectations, Ben Arfa went AWOL joining Nice in January 2014, a decision that led to his suspension by FIFA making him illegible to play for the rest of the 2014/2015 season after registering for three clubs in a single season.
