Revealed: PSG Tried To Sign Diego Costa On Transfer Deadline Day.

By Ewah Chika.

Just as Chelsea were desperate to sign a centre-back on transfer deadline day, it has been revealed that PSG were also desperate to sign Chelsea's Diego Costa who appeared eager to quit the London Club for former club Atletico Madrid in the same summer.

Chelsea coach , Antonio Conte was forced to move for PSG's David Luiz who only left Chelsea for PSG in the summer of 2014 for £50 million after Conte failed in his bid to sign first choice defenders Kalidou Koulibaly -Napoli and Leonardo Bonucci - Juventus.

Sensing Chelsea's desperation, PSG opted for a straight swap between Costa and Luiz which was outrightly rejected by Conte hence Chelsea paying £32 million to sign Luiz on the day. Costa was inconsistent last season scoring only nine league goals, struggling with disciplinary problems and failing to make the Vincent Del Bosque's Spanish final squad for the Euro's in France in the summer.  On their part, PSG lost star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who opted to join Manchester United on the free in the summer rather than extend his contract in Paris. The Paris club are left with Uruguayan  Edison Cavani as their first choice with Jesse Rodriguez who was signed from Real Madrid also able to play in the middle of attack when need arises.

This season, Costa has proved Conte's decision to retain him right by scoring five goals in five league games .
