Reasons Brendan Rodgers Is The Best Man For Swansea In The Summer.

Brendan Rodgers is in line to become the next manager of Swansea in the summer, four years after he left the Walesh club for Liverpool in 2012, according to reports from the UK. While Rodgers' last days at Liverppol were below average ,
it is important to note that his achievements at Swansea, which includes  he becoming  the first manager to lead a Walesh teams Premier League promotion quest.

Swansea on their own are blowing hot and cold present,  having sacked former manager Gary Monk after a long run of poor results in December. In came Francesco Guidolin, who has missed more than three Premier League games as a result of his ill- health.  Swansea have found themselves at the wrong foot of the table (15th) with 36 points from 31 games , having conceded 40 goals scoring 31 in return. This means that with seven games more to play , Swansea are presently only 10 points above relegation . This is poor considering that the last time Swansea were seen fighting  relegation was in the 2013/2014 season under Former Danish international Michael Laudrup which led to his sack . With quality players such as as Ashley Williams, Jefferson Moreno , Defe Ayew and then playmaker Gulfi Siggurdsson who has been the live wire of the team scoring seven goals in 11 appearances for the team since the turn of the year.

While Rodgers might have damaged his reputation at Liverpool towards his exit , after finishing 6th in his last full season at the club, thus becoming the first Liverpool manager since the 1950's not to have won a trophy after three full seasons in charge. Things got so bad that Liverpool finished the season with a 6-1 defeat to Stoke on the last day of the season . However,  it should be noted that Rodgers also finished the 2013-2014 season second, as he was only denied the trophy after a 2-0 loss to Chelsea having won 11 games in a row before the game on 27 April 2014. Rodgers still ended the season on a high with his team scoring 101 goals ,the third highest in the Premier League history and the club's highest since the 1895-1896 season .

The reasons Swansea would be right to offer the job to Rodgers is that Rodgers would not need time to adjust to the club if he rejoins, having led them to an 11th place finish in their debut Premier League campaign in 2012. Also another advantage of having Rodgers at the club, is the fact that Rodgers sets up his team to play exactly the same way Swansea plays , hence the philosophies of Swansea and Rodgers are compartible. For a better understanding , Rodgers loves his team keeping possession of the ball and playing a free flowing football and putting a lot of pressure on the opposition . This will suit the team so well, as the likes of James Cork, Moreno , Dede Ayew and Siggurdson are used to the system and will only become better under his management . One area both Swansea and Rodgers will agree probably needs strengthening is the attack with Befitemi Gomis having lost  form for a long period of time after his prolific start to the season in August. Also Swansea need to sign a quality attacking central midfielder after the winter exit of Jonjo Shelvey to Newcastle United , so as to reduce the burden on Siggurdson .

Having said all these, it is clear that in as much as Swansea need Rodgers, the Northern Irish man also needs the club as it will be a perfect place to relaunch his once fading career after the calamity of Liverpool. At Swansea, Rodgers will once again be returning to a team he helped build , hence knows all the strengths and weaknesses. Only time will tell if the second-coming of Rodgers to the Swansea dugout will turn out to be reality, but until then , Francesco Guidolin's team needs to avoid relegation and stay up in the league next season so as to have a realistic chance of attracting their former manager.
