Why Does Governor Nyesom Wike Like Instigating Violence When Peace Can Easily Reign?

"All those who plan to swap result sheets, may their souls rest in peace . Nobody will rig in Rivers State. Anybody who thinks Ameachi will give then result sheets to swap, should be ready to swap their dead bodies. I have told the
REC, you were here before , you can't play games with me", were the exact words of Rivers State governor Barrister Nyesom Wike at the grand finale of the Rivers East Senatorial District Campaign Rally of the PDP at Elele in Ikwerre LGA.

While the objective of the above statement was to scare and warn people who nurse the ambition of rigging the election , but the manner such statement was passed across is wrong and must be condemned . Nyesom Wike it seems is currently instigating violence before, during and after the elections .

It is imperative to note that such statements should not be welcomed in a state that has a high violence rate. This is mainly because of the high casualties recorded during the last elections last year. Also recently and last week alone, more than five people majority of them APC members have seen their lives cut short and their bodies beheaded and mutilated . This evil can be attributed to the greed and unholy ambition of politicians to score cheap political points . Wike on his part is the chief security officer of the state, and must be held responsible to a certain length . Although it could be argued that as a governor, he is not in total control of the Police as the Commissioner of Police in the state is answerable to the Inspector General of Police (Federal Government) and not him. Wike again from another angle cannot deny the fact that he receives huge funds from the same Federal Government as monthly security votes which he is not yet able to do a comprehensive account of it's utilisation.

Therefore it should also be remembered of how the PDP and certain Nigerian's reacted to a statement attributed to the incumbent President ( Muhammadu Buhari) in 2011 before the elections in which he vowed that blood will flow in the country if the election was rigged.  The promise was fulfilled as innocent people mainly Youth Corpers were killed in Northern states (Bauchi to be precise). However if such a statement was condemned five years ago , then there is surely no reason whatsoever why it cannot be condemned again today.

Wike should be made to realise that he is the governor of Rivers State and Rivers people and not the governor of PDP.  Rotimi Ameachi (APC) and Nyesom Wike ( PDP) should better ensure that peace returns to the now volatile state as the ambitions of both men is not worth the blood of any Rivers indigene. Nigerian politicians should learn to play politics of no bitterness . Come Saturday in Rivers State, let the People decide!!!!!
