Olumuyiwa Osinuga's Death (Nomoreloss) Should Force Artistes To Fund Foundation To Help Sick Members.

"Painful but more painful is all these social media downloaded pictures everywhere. Yes downloads because most of you don't have real pictures of him. He was never on your contact list neither did you have his phone number.
Where were you all when Muyinwa's career went down ? You fake a** friends avoided him like a plague cause you thought he was no longer a relevant artist. Today you are celebrating a dead man we could have saved. A loveable guy that championed the crusade to save the life of another artist (OJB) went off the radar and no one noticed. Msheeeww!!", wrote comedian Lepacious Bose on her twitter handle after the death of Olumuyinwa Osinuga a.k.a Nomoreloss on Monday 21 March 2016.  Muyinwa was a song writer , a singer and a comedian.

While no one can dispute the point raised by Bose , it is worth remembering that this is not the first time this issue has occurred as the likes of Muna Obiekwe, Enebeli Enebuwa and Pete Eneh all died because they could not afford the best medical care needed at that point. At such one continues to ask what the role of the leadership of musicians and actors are towards their members? Why do these actors earn handsomely during their active and peak period but fail to save up for the rainy day? Why do they then cry fowl when tragedy strikes asking for the help of the public ? What are then the merits of establishing an association for them and why has the begging continued to no end? Why aren't the artistes taxed or levied on each movie or music sales made in order to assist the unlucky ones or in order to make it accessible to them after retirement or tragedy period ?

Must Nigerians continue to hear the cries of a privilege few who rose to limelight against all odds and who were rewarded handsomely in cash and goodwill ? Things really have to change . Artistes have to stop living fake lives and start living a life of reality . There is really no need buying the most trendy car or most expensive houses in order to be accepted in the society . All over Nigeria from schools to parks to churches to mosques are a variety of people who have certain ailments or the other . These people beg for funds to undergo surgery or see the physician and have lived a peasant lifestyle all their lives earning little or nothing in the process. These are the people who should come forth and plead for aid from the society as fate may have never been kind enough to them  and not artistes who once had the world at their feet.

No one should try to play God, hence no one knows exactly when tragedy will strike . That is the more reason enlightened and exposed people called artistes should set the pace and fund a help foundation and stop disgracing the industry with cries of aid for sick members. They (Artistes) maybe probably waiting for the government to help them do that but they should be discouraged as the government has other more critical issues to contend with . This is because the government cannot sustain such foundations whenever it sets them up hence,  the artistes who earn the money should do such .

While Nigerians enjoy the talent display of these artistes, they do not need to be reminded constantly of the need to help them in times of ailment . Who amongst them all have their associations helped and why has no alarm been raised by any one of them? Maybe it is because of the belief of 'after all am not the one involved hence it's not my business'.

Nomoreloss may not be the last artiste to be struck by tragedy as no one can predict the future , hence those in authority should be charged to act fast so that the life of another artiste is saved . On the other hand we pray that the soul of Muyiwa and that of the faithful departed rest in peace and may God grant his  family the fortitude to bear his loss, Amen.
