How The Public Spat With Jose Mourinho Forced Eva Carneiro Out Of Football.

As Eva Carneiro resigned from her job as first team doctor in Chelsea after the public spat with then manager Jose Mourinho in the summer, many did not realise it would be her last job in football.

With news coming from her home town of Gibraltar,  confirming she will now work in a Specialist Medical Clinic as a medic specialist in Gibraltar,  one only feels she would have done better if she continued in the world of football. This means that Carneiro will no longer take up any role in football for the mean time.

Carneiro sued Chelsea for constructive dismissal and sexual discrimination  after resigning from her position
last year. This happened in the first game of the season , after she went to treat injured Eden Hazard with time running out. This led to then manager Jose Mourinho calling  her and physiotherapist John Fern "impulsive and naive ", as he felt they should have left Hazard alone on the field. Subsequently, Carneiro was seen exchanging words with the Chelsea manager after the final whistle of a game, Chelsea drew 2-2 with Swansea in Stamford Bridge.
Carneiro is a Gibraltar born British Sports Medicine specialist after serving in Chelsea from 2009-2015 as first team doctor. She was educated at both Queen Mary University of London and The University of Nottingham. She was Chelsea's first team doctor during the 2009-2010 victorious Double Trophy season under Carlo Ancelotti, Champions League Winning season under Roberto Di Matteo 2011-2012 and also last season under Jose Mourinho.

After the public spat , Mourinho banned her from being a match-day staff. Which ultimately led to her resignation, a few weeks later.  While Jose Mourinho might have been unfair in his treatment of the doctor , Karma has paid him back in his own coin , as he was sacked just months after the incident for a run of poor results.

Chelsea on their part, might have been adversely affected by the row between the two , as they only recorded a win each month throughout reign of  Jose Mourinho until his sack in December. Presently the defending Champions are 10th in the table without any  hope of making a European qualification position come May.

Mourinho's intention on that day might have been  to divert attention from the poor display of his team, hence he might have been tempted that blaming Carneiro would take the pressure off his players, which did not happen but rather intensified .  Carneiro on her part had dragged the matter so long and refused an out of court settlement with the club after her resignation .

While we wish her success in her new chosen role, one wouldn't stop to think back on what might have been if Jose Mourinho did not behave in such unacceptable manner.
