Bitter Tales Of Irregular Power Supply In Nigeria,

In a country of more than 180 million population , with sun rays and the heat on the high, it is disheartening to see that electricity power generation has dropped to an all-time record low of 1,580MW. What this means is that
more than half the country's  population  have been on a total blackout for quite some time with the government not concerned to their plight.

In a country that is one of the biggest producer of crude oil and coal , it is sad that the problem has degenerated into this present situation  . What worsens the whole issue is the disconnection and gap between the government and the citizens. In addition to this the governments unholy silence in the face of this hardship is suicide threatening. The government is still at this stage playing the "Blame Game" accusing the previous administration for the situation forgetting it took all the glory when the power distribution slightly improved last year.

About 16,000MW is the amount that the country  needs to maintain uninterrupted power supply but never has that ever happened as the highest the distribution comps kid have distributed hovers around 4000-5000MW, which is still a long way to the desired figure. This is coming at a time trillions of money have been invested in the same sector just to improved it's services yet the situation has only worsened. Based on the above fact, it has become general knowledge in Nigeria that with the exception of the Petroleum Ministry, the  Ministry of Power  is amount the most highly ranked ministries in the country as the government has alleged diverted funds meant for power projects and many of which were foreign loans.

This is why Premium Motor Gas (PMS or Fuel) is one of the most popular commodity that are in high demand by both households and firms. At the same time the same can be said of petroleum resources as it's scarcity has lasted for more than three weeks in the country. It is based on this that most households have been thrown into total darkness as their is no petroleum station to purchase fuel and also no electricity to power households and firms .

This is contrary to the campaign promises or rather propaganda of the present government who promised the masses heaven and earth in-order to be voted into power. Nigerians urgently needs answered abs cannot continue to live like second class citizens in their own country . Something has to change and as soon as possible,
