PSG Exposes Chelsea's Frailty As The Rot Continues.

That Chelsea were given a footballing lesson by French champions PSG is no story rather, the story is the manner of loss on the side of Chelsea . Chelsea were comprehensively beaten home and away and  the gulf in class in both teams was all too glaring from the first second of the game .

The Chelsea team could be classified as disjointed and disorganised except for striker Diego Costa whose performances distinguished him from the rest of the squad . Playing without John Terry, the "Pensioners" defence was in shambles and the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Willian, Pedro and Eden Hazard looked so ordinary .

The loss has clearly shown that the struggles by former Coach Jose Mourinho was yet to have be erased as the team continued to play like one intent on losing. New coach Guus Hiddink also has to be blamed after he brought on youngster Betrand Traore for Diego Costa while the likes of Loic Remy were anxious for match action. Traore might have performed in the few games he had played but against a star team like PSG , it was asking too much from the youngster .

The mindset of the Chelsea players can be summarised by the action of winger Eden Hazard who was seen exchanging his shirt with Argentine Angel Di Maria on the way to the tunnel during half time . This was at a time Chelsea were losing by a goal and needed another goal to force the game to extra time .

Chelsea had 38 percent possession to PSG's 62 percent in their home stuff and clearly played like a team certain of defeat and this afraid to hold on to the ball surrendering it back to the opposition at the slightest opportunity .

This is a total departure from the Chelsea of old where resilence, discipline and hardwork supplemented talent and technique . With next seasons Champions League football already lost , this was the only chance Chelsea had to guarantee themselves of Champions League football next season and unlike the "Resurgent Blues of 2012" the present team made a mess if every opportunity that came their way.

It is surprising how a team of so much promise and quality keeps on delivering little ending up at the dead end of every competition but clearly this shows the situation might be much more serious than previously thought. The team might need an overhaul with the likes of Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic, John Obi Mikel and Eden Hazard looking like the are way past their best .

Whatever Roman Abrahmovic and the Chelsea board decides , this Chelsea team it must be admitted is in a mess and needs urgent surgery .
