your offending are the only reason this child has suffered abuse", Justice Jonathan Rose said before handing former Manchester City and Sunderland winger Adam Johnson a £50, 000 prosecution cost fine and a further six years imprisonment for sexual activity with a minor .
It is pathetic to hear the story of one (Adam), who had it all (talent, fame and wealth) but like a proverbial spoiled child, threw it all away . Having amassed 21 caps for the Three Lions of England, 73 appearances for Manchester City (2010-2012) winning both the FA and the Premier League and 122 appearances for Sunderland reaching the League Cup final in 2014.
Touted as one of the future faces of English football after he caught the eye of North West club, Manchester City while playing for hometown club Middlesbrough. Adam also scored an 18 yard stunner from a loose ball just seconds after coming on as a substitute for Middlesbrough on the last day of the 2008-2009 Premier League season. He had a perfect left foot, wicked shot, good at trickery and a perfect hold-up play which allowed him to become am integral part of Roberto Mancini's Manchester City side . All that is now history, considering how his career ended with his comviction and imprisonment.
Adam Johnson might not have realised two years ago, that his football career would end in an embarassing low, when he started communicating with am under-aged on social network, while his partner Stacey Flounders was pregnant with his only child (daughter). Stacey also quickly broke up with him after he pleaded guilty in February . Adam was sentenced in the presence of his parents and pathetic it is to say that his daughter has been deprived the rights and privileges of a father as he serves his time in jail .
Adam had been arrested on 2 March 2015 by Durham police for having sexual activity with a minor and subsequently charged with three offences of sexual activity with a minor and for child grooming. At 28, Adam should be in the prime of his career but unfortunately we will forever keep guessing how he could have ended if he didn't spend better time of his prime behind bars.
Therefore, the moral story from the pathetic case of Adam Johnson is to never allow a few moment of pleasure to cloud our sense of reasoning and destroy our lives. Adam Johnson surely has to lie on the bed he made for himself.
