Permanent Secretaries Court Sack Reversal And Nyesom Wike's Unending Drama.

That Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is a drowning man is no longer news. The news is his constant battle to retain the grips of power which we know is so intoxicating. Wike is constantly in the news seeking media publicity
for both negative and positive reasons. One wonders how he will fare in the next gubernatorial election after the court ordered a fresh election late last year.

Instead of fixing the problems that are so persistent in Rivers State to win the hearts of his subjects, Wike instead has chosen to politicise every problem . It is eight months now since he assumed office and just like the central government of President Muhammadu Buhari, there is nothing to show on ground for his bogus monthly allocation which is second only to Akwa Ibom.

Wike had illegally sacked eight permanent secretaries in Rivers State who he doubted their loyalty and wanted to make a quick political point . This is the same man who criticised his political enemy and predecessor Rotimir Ameachi for illegally sacking some LGA chairman for the same sinister reason some years ago . The only difference is that at that time  , Wike became an apostle of the rule of law and an equity advocate. It was clear his chiding of the government of that time was motivated by his selfish political gains.

One should not politicise the civil service as it should be  a neutral institution and not a political one. If need be for any sacking then it must be done accordingly in the line of already established laws so as not to set a bad precedent . The National Industrial Court should be praised for their bravery and quick delivery of justice in standing for the oppressed and upholding the law the swore to protect .

Wike has no excuse if he doesn't deliver on his campaign promises and should rather concentrate his forces in uplifting the state from shackles of poverty and financial recklessness which he has spared no second to accuse his predecessor . Time is not on his side and action is needed urgently
