Bayern Munich Fortifies For 2015/2016 Season With Arturo Vidal Signing.

2015 has been a year of trophy and success for Chilean Midfielder Arturo Vidal. For the first time, Vidal won a double with his Italian Club Juventus and reached the Champions league final for the first time in 12years (2002). It did not end there,
as he replicated both his club form and success for Chile, while on international duty as Chile cruised to victory in the 2015 Copa America finals in Chile against an Argentine side inspired by the likes of Lionel Messi, Kun Aguero and Angel Di Maria.

It was the first senior major trophy in Chile's football history. This did however come at a big cost for Chile, as Vidal was arrested by the police and questioned after drink driving and crashing his Ferrari and his wife escaping with little or no bruises, during the tournament. He was later convicted of drink driving by the Chilean Court and had his driving licence suspended. Vidal was not expelled from the Chilean camp after the incident, as some other country FA would do, rather he was warned and he continued to feature regularly and en route help Chile win the Copa America trophy.

At 28 years of age, Vidal is in the prime if his football career. Vidal had always being one with a very precious football talent since his early days in football in Chile. He broke the Chile national record transfer of present team mate Matias Fernandez ($9 million move to Villarreal), when he (Vidal) moved from Colo-Colo to Bayer Leverkusen of Germany in 2007 for $11 million at 20 years of age. It was in his last season n Bayer that he found his best form under famous successful Bayern Munich and Real Madrid Coach Juup Heynckes, contributing 11 assists which was the club's highest and league's second highest as Bayer finished second that season, behind Borussia Dortmund (2010/2011 season). It was widely expected that Vidal would sign for Bayern Munich the next season but Bayer Sporting Director Rudi Voller, had other ideas as he decided against strengthening Bayern by selling Vidal to them. Vidal was then sold to Juventus for €10.5 million. He will go in to star consistently as Antonio Conte's Juventus displaced AC Milan and won the 2011/2012 Italian league Seria A trophy unbeaten. Vidal was initially used as as defensive midfielder by Conte in Juventus, but his role was changed by new coach Max Allegri in 2014/2015 season. Vidal's new role changed to a more advanced role in addition his box-to box role in a 3-5-2, formation.

Vidal was so consistent during the 2014/2015 season in both the Italian Seria A and UEFA champions league that he was named in the 2015 UEFA Best Player in Europe's 10- Man Shortlist. He played 28 Seria A games and scored seven goals, creating 37 chances, with 85% pass accuracy. He also won 47% of his physical duels with a shooting accuracy of 40%.

It was therefore not surprising that Bayern Munich have signed him on 23/07/2015, especially with the departure of club legend Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United. He was signed for €37.5 million from Juventus. Vidal on his part can play any position in central midfielder or in a 3 man midfield and will add aggression, passion and determination that is mostly seen in players of South American descent like Alexeis Sanchez Diego Costa and Kun Aguero. He will also add dynamism and help Bayern Munich in their high pressing game especially when out of possession. Vidal doesn't have an injury record and will have no problem adapting to the philosophy and tactics of coach Pep Guardiola. Their is no better replacement for Bastian Schweinsteiger than Vidal and no better player to add aggression and precision to the Bavarians like Vidal. In a market so inflated (Christian Benteke £32 million to Liverpool, John Stones £28 million bid from Chelsea and Raheem Sterling £49 million to Manchester City), then the €32.5 million or £27 million Bayern paid Juventus for his services surely looks like a bargain. In Vidal, Bayern have signed one of the best in central midfield position at the prime of his career at a minimal price.
