Has Victor Moses Finally Found His Form At Chelsea?

Has Victor Moses Finally Found His Form In Chelsea?

By Ewah Chika.

Signed in 2012, Victor Moses has failed to nail down a starting berth in Chelsea, having gone on loan to three different clubs (Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham) after winning the Europa League with the Blues in 2013.

The winger was regularly used by Rafa Benitez during his time at the club, yet this counted for nothing when Jose Mourinho was appointed, as the Portuguese deemed Moses  not good enough sending him on loan until his exit last season.

All that seems to have ended this season as Moses presently enjoys the trust of Antonio Conte, having played  seven  games in all competitions and scoring two goal in the League Cup and  Premier League.

Conte appears happy to use the Nigerian considering his pace and trickery which allows him stretch defenders, creating chances for himself and his team-mates. The Nigerian was recently praised after impressing in the wing back position  in the 2-0 win against Hull City last weekend. This was Moses's first Chelsea start since May 2013 (more than 1,239 days ago). Moses was the team's focal point of attack in the first half as he seamlessly tormented Hull's left back Robertson as well as defending when the need arised.

"For me, Moses played an incredible game in a defensive situation and attacking situation.

"He showed me that my choice was right. If he can play this way it's fantastic," were the words of Antonio Conte after the win against Hull City last weekend.

On current form, it seems the 25-year-old is ranked ahead of Spaniards Pedro and Cesc Fabregas by Conte. Moses is also ideal for Conte's high energy pressing given his ability to track back to offer protection to the right-back and at the same time create goalscoring chances for his team mates in the final third.

"Conte is very different because he came to the club and showed us it's about more than football. He cares about the players individually.

"He's a very unique and different manager from the other managers because he's passionate and loves the game as well.

"When he talks about the game with you, he knows what to expect, his awareness, knowledge of the modern game and experience make him completely different and unique," were the words of the Nigerian after the League Cup win over Leicester City on Tuesday night where he attempted nine take-ons succeeding with eight making him  Chelsea's most impressive player behind Cesc Fabregas.

For now it seems early to predict if the Nigerian will make the starting eleven his own but one thing we know at present is that Moses' chances of making the starting eleven soon is made easier given his impressive form in Chelsea's last two games (League Cup game against Leicester City and Premier League game against Hull City).
