Is The Honeymoon Over For West Ham United.

After winning and drawing four away games against the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, West Ham were the perfect away team. It was scary for any defender to play against the likes of Lanzini, Sahko, Payet and Moses.
It was a fight which no one except the team from East London came out on tops. New Croatian coach Slaven Bilic introduced a free flowing attacking football which was orchestrated by Dmitri Payet and he perfected it to perfection, scoring five goals and making a further three assists in 12 appearances.  Such was the attacking verve of West Ham that the they were termed "The Slayer of the Mighty". Playing an attacking brand of football became a re-occuring issue under ex-manager Sam Alladycee who got them promoted from the Championship and stabilized them in the EPL. Alladycee was criticised for playing 18th century football and such was the pressure that club legend Teddy Sheringham was drafted in as an attacking coach. While the result did not change, the coaching personal was changed by owners David Gold and David Sullivan and in came Croatian Slaven Bilic fresh from his unconvincing but yet average stint in Turkey with Besikas. With the signings of Angelo Ogbonna, Moses, Lanzini and Payet, Bilic changed the play of West Ham. This won both him and the club numerous  fans as they identified with his attractive style of play. In addition to that, Bilic also beat the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle and lost to EPL newcomers Bournemouth and Watford showing some signs of inconsistency. The bad sign is that in their last three matches, West Ham have achieved only a draw against Everton, losing to both Watford and Tottenham away. The manner of loss to Tottenham is not only shocking but embarassing as the Hammers were on a receiving end of a 4-1 football cleansing. Subsequently, the Hammers have slipped from 4th to 6th in the table and are now 5 points behind 4th placed Arsenal. It seems reality has dawned on the East London team and that they have been punching above their weight lately as they have gradually been on the decline. With the exploits of the likes of Leicester, Crystal Palace who have exceeded all expectation. Qualifying for the UEFA Champions League will be a massive achievement for the Hammers, as they will compete in their new London Olympic Stadium next season and inturn boost commercial sales, revenue and match attendance. Slaven Bilic must arrest this collapse in order to retain the loyalty and love of the fans who have taken to singing his name on match days. The Slayer of the Mighty is at present been Slayed and must redeem its prestige.
