When Jose Mourinho publicly criticised his medical team of Jon Fearn and Eva Carneiro on Saturday, he didn't know he was engaging in a war that might consume him come season end. It was a war too many and one Mourinho himself could have avoided.
Firstly his player's were a shadow of themselves against Swansea in their season opener in Stamford Bridge. The players played so badly that Branislav Ivanovic and Gary Cahill left the field disgraced by both Jefferson Montero and Jonjo Shelvey who came out smoking hot with star ratings from the encounter.

Instead of Mourinho to rather focus his attention on his teams poor showing and preparation for the big match against Manchester City, he has turned the table and attention to his medical team (Maybe to reduce the pressure and tension on his team). While this strategy has worked perfectly in the past, presently it has come at a wrong time and may spell doom for him. Football fans should realise that Eva Carneiro does not deserve this bizarre and harsh treatment from Mourinho. She should be commended for succeeding in a profession which is dominated by men. While the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool continue to struggle with lots of persistent injuries to their players, Chelsea can be said to have had the best injury record in the last three seasons in the top five (except for Diego Costa ' s persistent hamstring).
Neutrals seem to view it that Mourinho might have had a sinister motive for him public persecution of Carneiro. The public criticism she has endured from him is enough, talk less of the ban from matches (stadium), training and the team hotel. Could it be that Mourinho is not happy with her, given that she refused to carry out the operation on Diego Costa's hamstring in the summer, advising against it and prescribing the striker gets some rest in the summer. The striker went on to miss the community shield match against Arsenal through the same hamstring, which Chelsea lost and this might have aggravated the anger of Mourinho. It is clear that Mourinho has no case against the University of Nottingham medical practitioner because, it is clear she came into the field following the order of the referee to treat injured Eden Hazard. If as Mourinho claimed Hazard wasn't injured but tired, then why did a professional player like Hazard not know that lying on the floor for a long period comes with the dire consequence of a medical personel entering the field of play to attend to such a person? Where was Mourinho when Hazard lay on the floor?, why couldn't he instruct him to get up and get on with the game? Why did Mourinho waste all time till the referee called for the medical team? Or could Carneiro had sat down relaxing and disobeying the referee in the process? This is clearly not a case about Carneiro ' s naïve understanding of football but, a case of Mourinho and Hazard not taking responsibility. There is no where any judge can a analyse Carneiro and find her guilty on this.
Carneiro on her part was very wrong to escalate matters by going on social network (Facebook ) to acknowledge and appreciate fans support for her during the heated period. She should know better that doing such only made matters worse. While Mourinho isn't the one who employed her, Mourinho comes first in the teams hierarchy and putting up a fight with him in public could get her hands burnt. There was absolutely no need for her to wash their dirty linens outside. There should be a form of professionalism from both. Going on social media could not help her case, she could have quietly registered her grievance with the club authorities. This is purely a case where "Two wrongs couldn't make a right". You don't go on social media to vent your anger on your superior even when he is wrong. There are a million ways to do better.
Mourinho ' s team has played five games this season and lost two (Fiorentina and Arsenal) and drew a further three in 90 minutes ( PSG, Barcelona and now Swansea). Chelsea therefore hasn't won't any game in duration time and is playing so badly lacking creativity and defensive discipline, with star player Eden Hazard a shadow of himself. It could be that the pressure is getting too much on Mourinho. Little wonder he has never been successful in his third season in any club in his career. The only two times he tried it in Chelsea and Real Madrid, he ended up disgracing himself. Does it mean that history is about repeating itself in Chelsea? If Mourinho doesn't win the Manchester City match this weekend then bookmakers should start counting his days in Chelsea. The club's authorities could also be blamed for not acting promptly and wading into the matter to douse the tension. If they did earlier at the very Mourinho publicly criticised Carneiro, then all these won't have happened.
This should be a time to move forward for the club and not dwelling on irrelevant issues like this. A word they say, is enough for the wise.
