Yunusa's (Ese Oruru Kidnapper) Bail Shows Judiciary Needs A Total Overhaul.

"In consideration of the application, what is taken into consideration is that the offence is bailable and that the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty. I am aware that the offence is bailable and that the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
I am aware that the offence he is accused of is 'serious' but that does not foreclose bail" , were the words of Justice Hyeladzira Ajiya Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court sitting in Yenegoa before granting child kidnapper and child marriage poster boy , Yunusa Dahiru a.k.a 'Yellow' bail of #3m and two sureties of like sum.

The case of Yunusa does not need much introduction as it has become an international story after the Punch Newspapers exposed Yunusa's dirty acts. Yunusa it has been confirmed works in the Emir of Kano's palace ( Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) . While he is yet to be proven guilty, the magnitude of the crime he is currently accused of is too grevious to be ignored. Yunusa is not only charged with kidnap, he is also charged with rape, child grooming and child molestation. It should be noted that while Yunusa's case has gone global, child marriage is a thriving issue in the northern part of the country . Such was it's prevalence that a serving senator and  former governor of Zamfara State Yerima Sani married a 13 year-old Egyptian girl and even advocated for it to be passed into law (Child Marriage).

Therefore Nigerians should realise that Nigeria is not a sharia country or Christian country, hence the constitution comes supreme above every other religious doctrine or belief . They should be a clear and concise separation between sharia laws and Nigerian constitutional laws . No religion or culture is thus bigger and will never be bigger than the Nigerian constitution.

Until that is done, then the country might find it impossible to rid itself of such indecent acts such as child marriage and rape. Also Justice Nganjiwa has with his judgement blown his chance of making history and thus joined the league of Justice's who undermined the law and interpreted it to suit their selfish interests. This clearly regnites the call for a total overhaul of the Nigerian Judiciary as it continues to grant bail and acquit/discharge child rapists and corrupt politicians who have done the country no good .

On the other hand, Yunusa with the northern and Islamic forces behind him, it may seem have escaped the wrath of the law , as like other cases this might be the last time Nigerians might hear about this particular case as Yunusa is fully protected by the Islamic council , hence granting him bail will help him make an easy escape .

In the long run, Nigeria still has a long way to go to catch up with other industrialised countries as certain individuals like Yunusa and Nganjiwa continue to frustrate the efforts of a responsible and honest few.
